Morning GUSsers...
RE: the Cakewalk server.
Apparently an intermediate server in the Netherlands fell over and started
bouncing mail back to the Cakewalk boulder server, which bounced mail back
to the Netherlands server, etc, etc...until the boulder server gave up.
However, the boulder lads are aware of the situation and they reckon Cakewalk
will be on again soon. I'll mail everyone on the GUS group when cake is up!

The complaints about sampling seem quite valid. Any word on the long
awaited daughterboard?

The 8bit mono samples that I've made sound pretty darn good. Stereo samples
have always sounded worse for some technical reason that Gravis explained
and I promptly forgot (something about tolerance being only 90% and info
being accurate only to the 2s digit, so the lowest order bit is useless).
I would suppose the 16bit daughtercard will fix that problem.

Has anyone else tried sampling with the new windows drivers? I used to be able
to but now it just kicks me out to DOS as soon as a press record. May not be the
drivers but both cooled and goldwave do it, and only since the new drivers.

Thanks to all who suggested my popping and clicking patches were the
result of faulty DRAM chips. Sure enough, two were bad. After trying
various combinations and permutations I now have 3 banks of good memory,
clean patches and two bum chips.

Subject: Upgrading MidiSoft Recording windows software.
I've been playing with the MidiSoft software that came with my GUS upgrade
disks. I've noticed that there is a problems with key sign.'s not being
saved currectly after ending a session. Is there a fix for this? Secondly,
is there a way I can print out the score sheet?
Basically, I'm wondering if there is an upgrade for this software or maybe
better software that doesn't cost alot. Please e-mail me your responses,
I don't get the chance to read my Digest very often.
Thanks in advanced.
